Lost Food


The names of some foods, mostly Medieval & Elizabethan, lost to the English table and the English language.

I have just made Medlar Cheese, which is a delicious confection.

Flaumpens is a traditional Medieval recipe for pie of pork, eggs and cheese

I just came back to make a correction; it was Tabasco, one of Salmagundi's sons, that I knew personally.

And these days racehorses are called such disrespectful names as Whobegotyou and Dead Rabbits.
